pituitary importance

If the pituitary is so important, and if someone is not getting replacements of hormones the pituitary makes (except for ADH), why wont be someone dead? (Thinking through the cascade of events from hypothalamus to effect)

Are you talking about someone who does not have a functioning pituitary gland?

The pituitary gland does a lot of things. Sometimes it fails in one area but continues functioning in other areas. If it shut down completely or was removed, a person WOULD have to try to trick the body into thinking it was still working by taking several hormones.

That would be quite the juggling act, I would think.
