please help and advise

please help .as anyone had the same as me.i was diagnosed hypothyroid in april was put on 50mcg of thyroxine.and in oct/nov i had a couple of weeks of finally feeling ok.my blood tests initially showed 8.4 then dropt to 6.7 then to 4.3 then to 1.7.but then i had a bad cold and started to feel unwell with trembliness and emotional , loss of interest etc. so my dr did another test and my thyroid levels had started to creep back up to 3.8, so my dr increased my dose to 75mcg, but after approx 5 days i was feeling worse i had legs that were wobbly really strange feeling, my heart was racing . so i contacted my dr and she saw me to check me over and said the dosage was obviously too high. so for 2 days dnt take any thyroxine and then start on your 50mccg again, which i have started today. for the 2 days i didnt take any thyroxine my heart stopped racing and on the 2nd day i felt ok. i dont feel so good today, i feel okay ,but at times i feel my heart is racing, i dont know whether thats in my imagination.has anyone had the same experience and should i just leave off my thyroxine for longer or just take 25mcg for a while. also does having a cold affect your levels and should i have just waited for cold to subside.
i really dont know what to do im scared that if i keep taking thyrroxine it will send me hyperthyroid and i really dont want that.

Discusses this with your doctor, s/he is the one to tell you if you need a med. dose adjustment via levels and symptoms.

If taking T-4 thyroid supplement, test and adjust dosage 6 to 12 weeks after each dosage change.  It takes that long for the effect of T-4 into our system.  You might not start to feel better until you reach and stable on the right level and dose for you, then it takes time to heal thereafter.  Rome was not built in a day, likewise your symptoms.  Once levels have stabilized and plenty of time to heal, which is different everyone, and you still have symptoms., then its probably more likely not your thyroid/level/dosage.

Happy Holidays  - Good luck and best wishes for 2008.

if you still feel heart racing at 50mcg, then go down to 25 mcg or 37 mcg (break the pill). you should stay on one dosgae for at least a week (2 weeks even better) to see if that is the right dosgae for you.
