Why does the TSH have to be above 20 for radiation ablation and what are the symptoms

Your TSH needs to be high so that your thyroid will suck up the iodine, the thyroid is the only gland that uses iodine, Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) is what gets the thyroid working, that is why RAI 131 works.  Thyroid tissue ***** up the radioactive iodine and it dies off.  By the way, before my RAI treatment (I have cancer) my TSH got up to 186...it was awful!
