The only time people are usually taken off of meds completely is either in preparation for a nuclear scan or if their doctor thinks they no longer need meds for some reason.

I don't understand what your doctor expects to accomplish by doing this.  You are already having hypo symptoms, so I don't know what knowledge he expects to gain.  I'd ask him...

no   i guess he wants to retest my thyroid count and i guess you have to have the med out of your system and then in 6 weeks they rest test. he said i could go on a half a 75 tab. but then i would have to wait another 6 weeks no thank you.

i did go back and he said at least 4 to 5 more weeks before he can get a good reading for my test. yesterday i was sick my stomach was so upset i threw up and a little headache and did not want to do anything, i had no energy and just wanted to lay around. i had my grand kids and had to call my daughter to come home cause i was feeling sick. today a little headache but so far my stomach feels better. i dont have as much energy as i did at least i feel that way. called in work today. hate to do that. i called the doctor for an appt, for this morning but then cancelled it cause he will just tell me the same stuff except for the one time vomiting nothing is changed. so what was he gonna say just the same stuff so why bother.

I looked up drug interactions on depo medrol and levo and found none.  However, apparently your doctor thinks that you should not be taking your levo until some of the depo clears.

Five weeks is a long time, and I'd guess you'll probably be having hypo symptoms before then.  If you do, don't hesitate to call your doctor and go in for thyroid labs earlier than five weeks.

he said i was over dosed with the depro medol injection and that takes time to get out of my system and that he will recheck my thyroid in 5 weeks. he did take blood for a cbc  and cmc. so maybe today or tomorrow i will find out what that all said. this has been a long journey and i have a way to go still

Hopefully, tomorrow, he will put you back on a lower dose of meds.  After having been on 88 mcg for years, it's unlikely that you're going to feel good for very long on nothing.  If he doesn't do that, ask lots of questions, like whether he thinks you're going to be hypo again in not too long.

Best of luck with your appointment, and let us know how it goes.

I can't say for sure, but I seriously doubt that you should be on no meds at all.  It sounds like you were overmedicated on 88 mcg.  When I was overmedicated, my endo took me off meds completely for just 3 days, and then I resumed at my former dose.  You might ask your doctor about that kind of approach.

When you said the lab came back as extremely low, I assume you mean your TSH.  TSH varies a lot and is a very unreliable indicator of thyroid function.  Your doctor should be testing FREE T3 and FREE T4, too.  These are the actual thyroid hormones, much more important and reliable than TSH, and all meds changes should be based on symptoms, FT3 and FT4 levels, not TSH.

How long have you been off meds?  Are you feeling fewer hyper symptoms?  Does your doctor have a plan for you to go back on meds?

because i was shaking uncontrolablely and had a bad headache dizzy could not walk right and the lab came back as extremely low. so he said i was getting to much meds. i was feeling like my body was going to explode.

If you've been on 88 mcg for years, and you recently discontinued all thyroid meds, you are most likely going to get very hypo again.

On what basis did your doctor decide you were hyper?  Do you have labs to post?  If so, please include reference ranges as they vary lab to lab.  What were your symptoms?

After being overmedicated, it can take a few days of lower or no meds for hyper symptoms to go away.  However, thyroid meds dosage has to be changed in very small increments.  When big changes are made, the hypo-to-hyper rollercoaster starts.

Starting off with 25mcg or 50mcg is the usual protocol. Sounds like 88mcg and 75mcg was too high to start with.
