The redness WILL go away but may take months.  Always use sunscreen when outside/exposed.  It does get better and mine was infected so taking much longer but 1/2 of it is nearly invisible unless you look at it or kind of wonder "what was that" vs. "ewww what IS that" ..... as I say, that is 1/2 .. the other half is slow on the draw but is getting there and my dermatologist says it will look regular color as it cnotinues to heal.

Lots of good suggestions here..... my Dr told me to get Vit E balm/cream and I have not found it yet! I have been using a Vit E stick (sort of like a lip balm) and it says it is 100% pure Vit E so I hope it is the right thing. The first week I used Bacitracin as the Dr office reccomended but once all the scabs (sorry gross) were off I started with the Vit E.  I picked up the sticks at WalMart for only .98 cents each...kept one on the bathroom counter so I remember to use it through the day and one in my purse for when I am out.  I am just worried about it getting hard and thick and red... because so far it looks great if you ask me!  There is this little 'tail" (I call it) on there from where the drain was and I honestly think that is going to scar worse than the big part!!  I love the idea of lip balm with sunscreen though as the Dr warned me strongly about keeping it protected from the sun.   :O)

I tried Mederma, but it ended up making me itch so bad I couldn't stand it.  I bought the vitamin E capsules and puncture it and rub that in.  My TT was 8/6 and my scar looks pretty good!

Utahmomma ~ the lip balm w/sunscreen is a great idea!  Thanks for the tip.
