Hey! I know it's hard. I am only like 48 hours off LID. I told my husband that I was going to quit several times. I don't know how you are doing it by yourself. Anyhow, here is the list straight from my doctor. I just had my scan done Friday and it was positive. List of ALLOWED FOODS:
Oatmeal, Pancakes (made without eggs and milk only with water and they are actually really good made with Bisquick), spaghetti with meat sauce, turkey, beef, lamb, chicken, pork, veal, Eggs (twice per week or do just egg whites), (NO PACKAGED LUNCH MEAT), all fresh fruit, most fresh vegetables, homemade plain cookies, cake, and fruit pie, chili con carne, homemade casseroles with allowed ingredients, coffee, tea, water, sodas, wine, alcohol (which may be your saving grace...haha).
Two recipes that I found on the thyca.org cookbook that are REALLY EASY and REALLY YUMMY. I will actually keep them on my usual menu. I'm not a person who could accomplish complex recipes and these are so easy:
Company Cake:
Preheat oven to 375
I also posted the diet in your other question (where it was intended to be in the first place). I know it's frustrating. I don't know your whole story completely, but I know that we both have small children and both currently have cancer and are approaching treatments. I don't know if you pray or not, but prayer really gets me through and even phone conversations with family. I can't imagine going through this without my husband, you have to be extra strong. Fresh air always helps me too.
Good luck and God bless,
Nicki
Rachel,
my doc never even put me on that stupid diet. I had the RAI and it worked just fine. Take A DEEP breathe. You will have it and you will be fine. I bought some of that no idoine salt and was just CAREFUL about what i ate. Just didn't eat out etc which you know the foods are full of salt. They used to not put ppl on that diet so I wasnt too worried. I got the same results as anyone else. Just be careful but don't let it make you go crazy. You will get thru it and then be able to get back to normal life. I am back on synthroid and just starting to get my energy back. It just all takes time. Try and Hang in there.......hugs!!!
I didn't do the low iodine diet either and mine worked fine. I've had undetectable thyroglobulin levels since then. I wasn't even careful! I wouldn't worry about it too much. I hope you feel better!
My hat goes off to you for having the strength within do handle all of this well your husband protects the USA. I am sure this is not easy by yourself, i just wanted to share one saying with you that my uncle always said to me and right now I say it everyday to get me through all this nasty stuff.
Repeat after me and tell yourself this every time you get down or feel the world pushing in on you.
"This to shall pass"
It is amazing how this can help you.
Take Care,
God Bless you and your family.

Hello Rachel,
Hang in there. Do your best! You have to go thru this to be cancer free. Get the LID Cookbook from thyca website(if you don't already have it) like I mentioned in my last reply to you. I went thru the LID more than 4 weeks. It sucks no doubt about it. You will make it thru!! We are here for you!
Cheers,
Scott
I can only imagine what you are going through and as your friend I am here for you ....... pls. know I am going to look for a post tomorrow AM from you so you know you aren't alone with all this.
I messed up my last colonoscopy and didn't prep the correct am't of days beforehand .... these things happen but I know in your case it is weeks and not just 2 days' worth of prep.
Hang in there .. you are doing great all around with all you are going through.
