secondary adrenal insufficiency

I have hashimoto thyroiditis and have been diagnosed from ACTH Stim with secondary adrenal insufficiency, The urine and ACTH stim test was undectable. So endo is giving my 15mg of hydrocortisone in moring and 5 at lunch and 2.5mg at dinner. But now i am confused...I am not going to this endo doctor anymore because she was so rude.

I am going to another endo in the washington DC area but I can not get in until sept. Two more months...I can not come off this now because i will crash and feel terrible...big time. I have read the book by Dr Willian Jefferies Safe uses of Cortisol in small does of 5mg 4 x a day. And then tapering off or weaning off after 3  months or more.

I am on armour because the endo doctor told me hydrocortison inhibits the T4 conversion to T3. That is why I am on 3/4 grain of armour. I was on Levothroid at 88mg that is why we started at 3/4 armour. Now my chest is getting weird spasms..it hurts ...should i stop taking armour for a couple of weeks and let my adrenals build up..i have heard this but my old endo docter told me to take hydrocortisone with breakfast and wait one hour and take armour. Please help me...i need some advice on when i should taper off until i see this other endo...it is hard finding doctors that really truely know how to treat adrenal insuffiiciency. Mine is from chronic use of steriods from sinus infections. Then chronic epidurals for three years and then clobetasol cream of lichen sclerosis. This is what did it..suppressed it the epidurals and clobetasol. I have to get epidurals every 3 months for back. I have had lumbar fusion in 2004 and still have back pain from another disc now. I also have sjogren syndrome and lupus. So should i just take 10mg in the morning and then 5 at lunch and 5 at dinner. When do i start tapering off..I tried to take only 10mg in morning but i had severe inflammation all over...so when i up it alittle back to the original dose of 15 mg of hydrocortisone at breakfast i do fine...but i my hair is falling out some....and some stomach upset. I read that steriods increase gastric acid.

hello

I am going to endo in sept. Dr horwarth but now my internal medicine doctor will help but they do not really know how to do this well. I am suppose to be on it for a couple of months. That is usually the routine. I was told everyone is different and that sometimes some people taper off and then have to go back on it because of infections. I have already tried and i got a bladder infection. I keep getting sinus infections, yeast infection, bladder. It is sad...today another integrated doctor gave me my results on hormones blood and saliva. They were extremely low in dhea sulfate, progesterone and estrodial.
Well, I have a partial hysterectomy when i was 37 back in 1997. Now 47 so i guess I am menopausal now. Have some symtpoms. It would be nice if we could all these hormones balance. Do you know any good endo's ? thanks

You really need a doctor's advice on this.

Even though you thought the last doctor was rude, call the ofiice and ask how to taper off.

How long dod the endo intend for you to take the HC?

I am also in the DC area.
