Hi, I just wanted to say when I read your post it made me so sad and yet also gave me hope. For I myself posted a similiar post to yours last week when I felt so very scared by what the brain fog was doing to me. I'd almost convinced myself I had Alzheimers Disease! So you are not alone, I know exactly what you mean. And it's truly awful isn't it. But I just wanted you to know you're not alone. I experience everything you talk about. The whole thing. The people here though, have helped me so much, lessening my fear and helping me to cope. I don't like the fog one bit, but I live in hope now that someday it will get a bit better. Thinking of you.
I am not sure what tests my endocrinologist took because he did not tell me my test results. I had to ask him over the phone for my TSH. I will get a copy of my complete test results and I will post them here when I get them. I do not think i have hashimotos becasue I have graves disease.
Have you had a complete thyroid panel done with tsh, free t4 and free t3?? And how long ago. You need to have your free t3 done to make sure you are converting properly. People with low t3 usually have heavy brain fog and can also cause depression. If your dr won't test for it then he is not a thyroid specialist...he is probably a diabetes specialist. Otherwise he wouldnt have reacted like he was shocked you have brain fog. Aslo did you test positive for hashimotos? If so then your tsh needs to be supressed to a .50-1.0 in order for your body to start healing and for you to start feeling better. You are not crazy....just undertreated from the sounds of it. Please message me any time and don't be afraid.
Talk to your doctor about trying an antidepressant too if your TSH levels are low enough. Many of us need them to function. Changing thyroid hormones not only messes with your metabolism - it can affect your brain chemistry.
Worth a discussion.
Your stress isn't helping. But your right, my levels arent normal I am miserable. I used to work two jobs until this year I had to quit my life has gotten better, I have time to relax now. Your body needs that, even if you can concentrate on a movie lol. I do no the feeling very well as I am trying to type what I am saying.
Hi ! I just posted this morning to a member in the allergy forum who has brain fog. I thought you would like to check this out. Here's the link:

Sounds like stress is not helping and 60-70 hours a week working would cause most anyone anxiety! Try and take some timeout for yourself. I find exercise really helps me mentally because it releases that stress that can build up! We live in such a stressful world now a days and I know it can cause so many problems including brain fog. In my Prayers! Juli
I have mentioned it to my endocrinologist but not in its severity. When I first mentioned it to him that I was experiencing "brain fog" with the inability to focus and concentrate. He looked at me in bewilderment and confusion. That made me apprehensive about telling him everything in fear of him calling me crazy. At that point my levels were really off and I told myself that it would get better as my levels got better. It hasn't. YES I have alot of stress in my life right now which makes it even harder to deal with. I also work between 60-70 hours a week. I have to work two jobs to make ends meet. I have been trying to remain optimistic but its difficult with everything going on. Thank you for your prayers and support.
Brainfog25,
I agree you should be clear about how you are feeling to your Doctor. Sorry, your feeling this way but I do know that stress can increase ALL situations! In reading your post you expressed yourself very well for someone experiencing such fog (not to lesson your feelings) and I do believe you need some professional help. Are you seeing a Endocrinologist..? so many people just let their family phyicans handle there hormones and I think that can be a huge mistake when you have a known endrocrine condition. I will pray peace for you and your situation meanwhile! Juli
first, have u mentioned this to ur dr?...also I noticed my fog isn't too bad if I am less active. How many hours do u put in at work?...school? relaxing?
I was working close to 70 hrs a wk on a regular basis, my job was very stressful, I went out for surgery and the fog has lifted somewhat...I can manage better, but still have days the fog rolls in a bit thicker.
Good luck
Godspeed
