Unfortunately, your doctor is not ordering the best of labs. Total T4 is considered an obsolete test and pretty much a waste of money. It measures the total T4 in your body, but much of that is chemically bound to protein and therefore unavailable to your cells. Free T4 measures what is actually available. Free T3 should also be included, since T3 is the most active of the thyroid hormones.
I'd ask for the FT3 and FT4 as soon as convenient.
And are you having any symptoms, either way?
hi...
Thyroid Function Panel
T3-Uptake 43 nr32 - 48

TOTAL T4 8.5 nr 5.2 - 11.0

T7 9.00 nr 5.93 - 13.13

TSH 0.58 nr 0.34 - 5.60

my current dosage is 88mcg. i was on 100 mcg for 6 months, had a blood work at 100 mcg where tsh was very very low, about .036( nr .32-5.60). t3 and t4 were normal(subclinical hypo) and started 88 mcg in august.
I have to second that you need to have your FT3 and FT4 tested. Diagnosis and meds adjustment by TSH alone is flying blind.
Do you still have hypo symptoms? Any hypER symptoms? Why did you stop your meds for two days? What is your current dose, and was it recently changed?
T4 is a long lasting hormone....Takes weeks to properly build up in your system. Missing 2 days is not long enough to affect your levels in testing.
I would stay at your same dose. It takes awhile for a thyroid med to leave your system.
Once it does you'll probably be hypo again.
You can't go by TSH alone. Is your Dr checking your Frees? FT3, FT4 and antibodies?
Take care. Remar
Actually, these are questions you should ask your doctor. Only she/he should advise you on the questions you have.
