I have been diagnosed with Hashi's recently because I have raise thyroglobulin antibodies and slightly hypo T3 and T4T4 test. My doctor wants to give me iodine drops with the natureNature-throid Natures tears-throid supplements. I have read I am not supposed to take iodine, though. Is this true? Thanks
Excessive amounts of iodine can trigger autoimmune reaction in predisposed people.
Iodine for hashi's patients is same as sugar for type 2 [non-insulin dependant diabtetes] patients
To test for Iodine deficiency you have to do a iodine loading test. You can buy them online and it takes 24 hours of collecting your urine. The sample is sent to a lab and they send back your results. it's approx 75.00 dollars
Did you have any testing to see if you were iodine deficient first? I know the ranges of iodine are huge from country to country - but what is leading your doctors thoughts on this treatment?
Just out of curiosity, What kind of doctor are you seeing?
My doc is an intefrative medicine guy. I think iodine is a standard thing with him for hypothyroid treatment along with the armour. I have read conflicting things about whether it is good to take iodine if you have hashis so I am not taking it yet. He didn't test to see if I was iodine deficient. Is that the standard before giving iodine?
Thanks
