I ask about symptoms, not because I doubt that you feel hypo, but because they're so often ignored, especially by doctors who treat "by the numbers". And they can be so important.
Your TSH shows that you are hypo (range = 0.3 to 3.0). Ranges are really important, as they vary between labs, labs express results in a variety of units, and different countries do the same. if your range on the FT4 is correct at 0.9 to 1.5, then your FT4 is really quite low, again indicating hypo.
Thyroid antibodies are usually called microsomal ab (or TPOab) and thyroglobulin ab (or TGab). I ask about these because an elevated level of either can indicate an autoimmunie disease such as Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Often, those of us with Hashi's, experience a hypo to hyper cycle. The nodules associated with Hashi's can 'leak' rather than secrete hormones (T3 and T4) into the bloodstream. This happens in a preety uncontrolled way and leads to the rollercoaster ride that is often Hashi's. My thought is that perhaps, though you are basically hypo, you are experiencing some of this, which might cause the tachy.
However, as I mentioned before, some people actually experience tachy when they ar hypo. This is not as common, but it may be what's causing yours also.
Hope this helps some.
i've been hyper and hypo.
when i was hypo, i had the worst time sleeping. i'd wake up frequently and have very strange dreams. i'd also hallucinate and jump out of bed, which would make my heart race because i was startled. i'd also have night sweats.
when i was hyper, i didn't have any of these issues...i just had issues falling asleep. but once i was asleep, i'd stay asleep.
based on what your describing and what you're gut is telling you, i agree that you're probably experiencing hypothyroidism. of course, you have to have all of you labs run to confirm.
I think the reference was .9-1.5 or something like that.. I think Im hypo as I had a PT a few months ago, Im very tired, I feel like something is sitting on my chest, cold very easily, on the blood panel work up what would the thyroid antibody test be under?
T3 is the active thyroid hormone, T4 is the storage version. T3 is very fast-acting and much more potent than T4 and either natural surges of it from you own thyroid or taking T3 or meds containing T3 can cause tachycardia. Have you had any thyroid antibody tests?
Your TSH does make you look hypo, but TSH can be very deceptive. Why do YOU think you're hypo? What are your other symptoms?
Do you know the reference range on your T4?
No I am not on any meds yet, why is the T3 the culprit for tachycardia?
I hope your OB ran your free T3. That's usually the culprit in tachycardia. Are you on meds?
I am actually think I'm hypo, my last TSH was 3.84 and my t4 was .9, I had more done Friday for my OB, but the levels I'm giving you now is from maybe 2 wks or so ago.
I was getting that as well, I was/am hyper and just dx with Graves. I thought I was losing my mind too and posted here for advice, its so so frightening isn`t it, doc gave me beta
blockers and they are helping a lot, hope you feel better soon.
You're not losing your mind. Post your TSH, free T3 and free T4. Also what you're taking for meds. Anxiety and tachycardia are both symptoms of hyper or overmedication. Some people also get these when hypo, but that's less common.
I get that when Hyper. When was the last time you had labs drawn?
