Calling the doctor is of no use. He won't even believe that Synthroid is causing stiff neck, and there is nothing he can do about it. Even if he believes, there is nothing he can do about it (he is a dummy). All he can do is write a prescription, and expect you to stay on that prescription forever. He has no knowledge about treating the side effects.
My overall opinion is that all doctors are dummies (even a 90-year old grandmother is far better them).
I had more serious problem with Synthroid (stiff neck, frozen neck, muscle pain to an extent of extreme seriousness), but my doctor doesn't believe that it is the side effect of Synthroid. He won’t let me even talk about it, and he won’t document it. All doctors are living like that with total domination, treating their patients like animals. He expects you to be an animal without any knowledge about your health issues. If he knew that you are reading books about your medical problems, if he knew that you are intelligent and trying to find your own way of curing your health problem, he will live with enormous jealousy, crookedness and wickedness, and eventually he will try to get rid of you. There is nothing anybody can do about it. SHAME…medical profession is exactly like that! There is no point of going to another doctor. All doctors are like that, living in a hole of crookedness.
I started taking synthroid about a week ago myself. My neck and shoulders were so stiff and sore I could barely move. I tried everything, heating pad, ice, alleve, even missed a day of work. I quit taking synthroid today and will be calling my doctor tommorrow.
That is really strange I can write cramping but not c r a m p
Sorry!

I am going to assume that you are Hypothyroid and that is why you were started on Synthroid and believe it or not...stiff muscles and such is always my first clue that I'm going a little on the hypo side of things...my neck will cramp but my calves **** up really bad.
Honestly, and this really is my personal opinion...it probably is the hypothroidness that is causing the cramping....it does take about two weeks after starting Synthroid for you to start feeling the benefits from it...because it takes the body that long to break it down, store it and then start using it efficiently.
Whatever is causing this for you...I hope soon passes!

I rarely get headaches. I rarely take any medication either. The stiffness in my neck and the back of my head is very painful! I started the Synthroid only last Wednesday but I would take it with juice and have breakfast right away. Now that I've read that it should be taken on an empty stomach and then wait for at least 30 min. before eating; maybe it will get better???? I've taken Advil and sometimes it helps; but sometimes it doesn't!
Stiff neck can be caused by a lot of different things...stress is being a big one...along with muscle strain...etc. I personally find relief with hot/cold compresses, herbal massage cream (like a sports cream), mild massage, hot soak in the tub, a nice roll pillow...sometimes a mix of Tylenol & Motrin piggybacked (please do not do this without speaking to your doctor first - this is something my doctor worked out for me and my motrin is a prescription).
I'm going to also say that if your headache and neckache don't go away within a few hours...you might want to give your doctor a call.
Do you have a history of migraine headaches?
