I'm 26 yrs. old and I'ev been diagnosed with a low thyroid I really don't understand what it means. My docter gave me a copy of blood test but didn't explain, my TSHPituitary and tsh Tsh is 9.67 and he put me on Levotrin 25mg,prilosecPrilosec Prilosec otc OTC 20mg,Atarax 25mg,and also Fiber. I don't understand if thats all for a low thyroid or is there something else wrong,(I was told over the phone about my low thyroid) my doctor never asked to see me,so is this something i should worry about?
Once the constipation goes away or gets better the reflux may be better too .. they can go hand in hand as the constant pressure/bloating can push up and cause increase in reflux.
Atarax is an antihistamine used to relieve the symptoms of common anxiety and tension and, in combination with other medications, to treat anxiety that results from physical illness. It also relieves itching from allergic reactions and can be used as a sedative before and after general anesthesia. Antihistamines work by decreasing the effects of histamine, a chemical the body releases that narrows air passages in the lungs and contributes to inflammation. Antihistamines reduce itching and swelling and dry up secretions from the nose, eyes, and throat.
Found this on the web. Never heard of it before, hope it works for you
I also have extreme pain in my back, neck and head but it always seems to be on my left side. My doctor said in time it would go away with my medication, it's all part of having a low thyroid. I hope you feel better soon.
Perhaps when you get your thyroid leveled out, you will not need the other non-thyroid medication.
Next time, press your Dr. for answers to all your questions and don't hesistate to ask them...or let him leave without getting them in;-)
There will be a few women here who can help you out with this (I am searching, not diagnosed).
Best to you!
