synthroid 50mcg with TSH 1.10

i have been having all the symptoms of hypothyroid for several months now. it also runs in my family. went to the dr a few weeks ago and bloodwork came back normal. all they tested wwas TSH 3rd generation which was 1.10. but the dr said my thyroid was enlarged. went for ultrasound this week and came back showing just an enlarged thyroid on the right side. since i have all the symptoms and the enlarged thyroid, the dr put me on 50mcg of synthroid and i have to have my bloodwork rechecked in 2 months. does this sound normal? should i be taking the synthroid with a normal TSH? does this sound like i have hashimotos? and should i request additional bloodwork in 2 months other than just the TSH?

i was also wondering if it is okay to take my birth control pills, vitamins and aleve while taking synthroid.

thank you all so much

That's great.

Just make sure to keep up with follow-up bloodwork

thank you. actually i think maybe i waited to long to eat and didn't eat enough. i took my 3rd dose today and i actually fell good, not great but good. i.m not really getting any side effects. and i can already feel a small increase in my energy level and my joint pain and difficulty swallowing have both decreased a little. hopefully things will continue to get better with the med.

thank you

If taking the 50 mcg is concerning to you, ask the doctor about starting with 25 mcg. That's where I started with a TSH of 6.

It won't neccesarily make you hyper. Were you shaky b/c you were hungry or are you still shaky? It does take some people time to adjust.

Call your doctor and explain how you feel and ask about the lower dose.

i forgot to mention that i took my firdt pill this morning and i waited about an hour and a half to eat anything. i feel fine but am very shaky, is this normal? will my body adjust to this? also, since my TSH was only 1.10, will the medication lower it and make me hyper instead of hypo?

thank again
