Thanks kitty9309! That's great info!
I was on Synthroid (self pay) and have now switched to Levoxyl.
The Synthroid was about $20 for 30 days and Levoxyl is $14. The Synthroid coupon can be used for either 30 or 90 day supply. ($3 or $10, respectively)
There is also a Levoxyl coupon. A free 30 day supply every 90 days, up to a max of 3 free rx's.
Thanks. I'll see if I can switch to Levoxyl. I don't want to use a genreic as I heard bad things about it...
You could ask the pharmacist what was covered.
My BCBS does not cover Synthroid and that's why I'm on the brand Levoxyl instead. It was the only brand the insurance covered. My dr recommends a brand name and not a generic, so I chose to go with the Levoxyl. Turns out it's worked out well for me.
I bought my synthroid on walmart and last I got it I paid 17.85 with tax using my insurance card, if you dont have insurance it is $ 113.00 at walmar for just 30 pills, the website for syntroid ofers cupons but you can only used them when you buy 3 months of medicine and if you dont have insurance,, another thing be careful of generic brands specially for thyroid medicine you might get a better deal money wise but you might get to feel worse I have read here many times not to go with the generic got to do with their formula not being a constant, any way hope this help you have a great weekend!
I pay $18.78 for 30 Synthroid 125 mcg - which is less than my insurance co-pay for brand names. (Same price at 2 different pharmacies, not sure if that is a negotiated rate or if it is what it would cost if I filled the prescription without any drug coverage). I have Empire BCBS too, but our drug coverage is through Medco.
Is your copay for prescriptions $25? check your ins card. If generic is cheaper than $25 then I'd opt for the generic. Still unsure? Call your BCBS to double check.
When I had my prescription filled it was for a 90 day supply. ( the first one to get filled). If you have a $25 copay, then you should contact your doc and have them redo your prescription for like a 60 or 90 day supply at a time.
go to Synthroid's site .. they used to have coupons for $ off .. but not sure of all the details .. if you can take the generic places like Target and WalMart have it for $4.00 .. that may be worth exploring, too ?
