synthroid side effects

Hi,

I have been taking synthroid (0,075mg) for a year now.

My family doctor have been following my thyroid for a year and a half. The results show that I have borderline hypothyroidism. I don't have the numbers with me, but at first it was hard to tell if the levels were good or marginals. She had me tested to see if I had antibodies that could be "destroying" my thyroid... and I do. Which tells her that my conditions can only worsen with time (which means I could eventually become a "true" hypothyroid). Also, she was told that the numbers (for TH4 and such) had changed and now confirmed me as being borderline hypothyroid.

I don't have any symptoms. Maybe being a bit tired, having trouble loosing weight. And I can't say that taking synthroid has changed anything... but the numbers are within acceptable limits now.

I have noticed, since taking synthroid, a strange side effect. My hands and feet often itch. It is a weird feeling.. it feels as if my bones were itching (I mean that even if I scratch it brings no relief). Also, more and more, I have skin rashes. My skin, for example on my arms, neck, gets red and itchy and feels warmer.

I have no idea if this is linked with the synthroid or if it is something else.

I'm wondering if anyone has had the same thing happen.

I'm also wondering if I should really be taking synthroid, since it was only based on numbers and no symptoms.

Thanks

Thanks for answering

I had done a search before posting and I hadn't seen anyone complaining of itching and skin rashes that might be linked to synthroid...

I'll search again!

I also found the ask a doctor forum... I haven't search through it yet.

Sorry you didn't get an answer to your question, which is most likely due to many repeat and/or similar questions, and answered in another post.  So you might do a post/thread search.

Good luck and best of health!
