taking high dose of synthroid-help plse

Hello,
I will try to be short. I am currently taking 400mcg of synthroid. And still my TSH comes back high. 39.9 was the last.
I have been on synthroid for over a year now and have had the radition done. My TSH was much higher and since treating with synthroid it has gone down. It is just that I am getting very concerned about such a high dose of medication. We (I) tried taking Cytomel also but had a bad recation.
I have expressed my concern over the high dosees to my doctor, but she and co-doctors seem unable to find the reason out. Obviously my body is not absorbing it and we have looked for reasons (calcium etc...) but have found none.
The highest dose she remembers giving a patient at their office was 350mcg and that was with a very large person. I weigh 180lbs. Not that large.
I have tried to find more information online with no luck.
If someone can help me learn more about this I would really appreciate it.
Thanks
Brian

WOW!! That is high!

Have you discussed giving armour thyroid a try? I know most drs are not open to that med at all.

DO you have symptoms?

Do you know where your free t's are?

You are on a very, very large dose.  With having the radiation I would think that they should have been able to bring you way down.  Have they checked your thyroglobulin level to see if there is something else causing the problem?  Has surgery been discussed?
