I took GTA-Forte II from Biotics Research and it brought my TSH right into the normal range. However, I seem to be having a problem because when I discontinued it it went high again. Took it a second time and it came back down to 4.4. Now the nutritionist says to take Iodoral (iodine) but I've been hesitant because I think I might have hashimoto's - may get a thyroid scan but I'm a little worried about the I-123 although people say it is just like an x-ray.
Just an additional thought to what's already been posted here. If you're going to start on any kind of iodine supplementation, make sure to also take a large amount of vitamin C with it. Don't take both together, but add the C about 4 hours later. This will help with any detox symptoms you might experience. You're right about the selenium, and add magnesium as well.
Part of your thyroid is still working though. So it would be a good idea to get enough nutrition for your thyroid.75 mcgs means your thyroid is a little low but not completely dead. You would take close to 300 mcgs if it was.Good luck and hopefully u can get it working better with nutrition.
bladderewrack also known as seawrack is a form of kelp that is very rich in iodine
Don't forget iodine.I don't think u need any test to be done.Except maybe iodine deficiency test. Not to be negative but if part of your thyroid is dead I don't think it will ever put out enough thyroxine by adding more nutrients. It's like trying to start a car with gas but the engine is toast. It will only work if your thyroid was low because of nutrition.
If u get it working let me know. I wish I could get mine working from nutrition.
U might want to see a natropath about nutrition for thyroid.
