this is going to sound really bad...

but I have a true question:  I usually have a glass of wine 2-4 times a week after work, while I'm making dinner.  I usually have a little buzz by the time I'm half way through the glass.  Ever since my TT on 5/11, my wine not only TASTES different... it does not give me that relaxed feeling.  So... I figured somethign to do with anesthesia... give it some time.  Well, today I decided to put it to the test and I have drank 2 full glasses of wine and finally have that "relaxed" feeling.  So, without sounding like a complete lush, I'm asking another metabolism question:  Do you think this is still an affect from anesthesia, or could it be that my metabolism is so different I'm processing the alcohol quicker or slower (and do you think it's quicker so it's not hitting me, or is it slower so it's taking longer?).  I'm so confused.

I really have no idea.  Because you haven't been on meds all that long, it could just be the change in metabolism while you're getting regulated.  It could be the meds themselves.  These thyroid things are tricky and there really isn't one set answer.  Doesn't help that my mind doesn't work the way it used to.  I feel "swift, like fencepost" most days.

BTW:  I am a wine lover and I have to say that all wine tastes differently post TT... a heavy cab tastes like a light merlot (which is very disappointing to me b/c I love FULL wines).  I actually thought the first bottle I opened post TT was bad b/c I felt nothing and it tasted so bland.  I thought, "No wonder this was on sale... it tastes like my son's grape juice!"  Well, the 2nd and 3rd were the same... My taste buds don't seem to be all that different with food, but with wine, they're VERY different.

It's probably a metabolism thing.  And btw, it doesn't sound bad at all.  Remember, the red wine is good for you so it's "medicinal".  Oddly enough, while I used to love red wine, I can't stand the taste anymore.  This started about 2 years ago, roughly around the same time my symptoms started really getting bad.

If it is metabolizing differently, do you think my metabolism is actually slower (taking longer to hit me) or faster (needing more to build up to hit me)?  Will that even out over time do you think?  These are questions I'm too embarassed to ask my endo! :O)

I'm on levoxyl.  Isn't that a generic of synthroid?  My hubby will not be happy to hear that my wine budget will have to incrase post TT! :)

Seriously, it sounds really bad, but I'm truly curious if this is related to my TT?

R U on Synthroid?  Mine is ENHANCED!!!!  Not to sound like a lush but a glass of wine hits me like 2 glasses and otc meds make me dizzy or enhance their own side effects for which I am not happy about at all!
