throat pain

Three months ago, while bowling, I experienced extreme throat pain.  Rather than raise a fuss, I continued bowling.  The pain continued into the next day.  Since then, I experience periodic throat pain.  US 9/10/08, both lobes of thyroid normal, complex cystic area on R & sm. cyst on L, along lateral aspects of thyroid.  Could be multinodular goiter.  9/18/08, Iodine 123 nuclear scan, showing severe hypofunctioning but no hot or cold nodules.  6/24/08 TSH 3.36.  CT of neck 9/18/08, multiple sma. lesions involved both lobes.No evidence of cervical adenopahy or other significant findings.  Conclusion: benign finding of multinodular goiter.  Endo doc seen, finally, on 11/11/08 (waited 11 weeks).  He emphatically stated pain not related to thyroid.  He thinks it's heart related since I have C.A.D. and carotid occlusions.  Now referred to surgeon for "consultation" to see if biopsy necessary.  Waiting another four weeks for "consultation."  In addition to pain, lower lip hurts, and feeling of a bonfire in my throat that sometimes emanates heat.  I hate all this waiting, very stressful.  What to do?   76 year-old Illinois lady.
