I would say hope for the best. Statistics says only about 5% on cold nodules turn out to be cancerous. So the stats on your side. The waiting is the hardest part of having thyroid problems. Do you have a pathology reports that describes you nodule. There are a few people on this forum that are really great at interpreting them into layman's terms. Good Luck! If you have any questions just ask away!
Hi There,
l been diagnosed with thyroid nodules my biggest is 1.7 cm. Still quite small, but l am constantly clearing my throat and some times my voice gets very hoarse. l have had so many tests done and just had another US done and earlier had a FNA also. Still waiting to here about my latest thyroid scan results. If my nodule grows to 2 cm he wants to take it out, so l guess l just have to wait and see what happens sometimes l get a lot of pain in the back of my neck also which is weird because most people get pain in the front. Also my Endo said if my results come back and my nodule is cold l will have to see him before my next 3 mth appointment. Should l be worried about any of this or should l just chill
Thanks Wendy
I've had problems also with large nodules (goiters). It feels like someone's choking you, or like you've got food caught, or (my favorite) like you've swallowed a pill wrong. It's probably your goiter pushing in on your trachea. You may also lose your voice like you've got a bad cold when you don't. Please be sure to let the doctor know of these symptoms (sore, scratchy throat) and keep on top of it. Good luck & let us know how it works out.
I've heard of trouble swallowing and/or a feeling of pressure in the throat, but not the sore scratchy throat you're talking of. It's possible it might just be temporary from post nasal drip or somesuch. I also have a large nodule (4.7cm at the last measurement), so I certainly understand your worries. Best of luck to you regarding the biopsy. I've had 2 FNAs and, while they weren't comfortable, the worst part of the entire procedure was waiting for results.
Please keep us posted. :)
Sorry that I can't help you with this as I have no experience. Just wanted to tell you that I love your screen name.
