thryoid pain

by mollygood, Aug 19, 2008 10:27PM
I have nodules in my thryoid and they say they are too small to do anything with. But I am having sharp pains on the right side of my throyid that comes and goes and it seems to be getting worst. I have had ultrasounds and blood test done.My thyroid levels are all good and I don't take meds for them. Should I let this go? They say that there to small to biopsy, but what is causing the pain?

I would seek a second opinion if you are having pain. You said you pain comes and goes..when does the pain usually occur.  Have you seen an endo or head/neck surgeon. I finally got in to see an endo due to my ob/gyn. He's the only one who helped me when I first noticed my lump. Upon u/s, my nodules came back suspicious and a bx. was recommended. Now, I'm waiting the results of FNA.  Mine started out w/ no symptoms at all. I just happened to discover a lump while rubbing my neck (last april). Now, it hurts to swallow and I have constant ear pain. I certainly would try to find someone who will listen and help b/c changes can occur rapidly.
