thyroid biopsy

had a thyrod biopsy done for a nodule that was hypoechoic with tiny calficication and taller than wider also have hashimotos...report stated scant colloid, red blood cells and rare follicular epithilial cells with mechanical distortion smears are considered nondiagnostic suggust repeat aspiration in a period of no less than three months...what does that all mean my endo said he was not going to do another biopsy for another year..iam a bit concerned

I had a nodule that was taller than wide, apparently they are more likely cancerous, but not always. Calcification is also a concern, if you have follicular cells, they will continue to watch...when they start clustering they will be concerned...my biopsy read "benign follicular clusters"...my biopsy was inconclusive. I did have cancer.  I would stress for another biopsy within 6 months...luckily if it is cancer, it rarely spreads and grows very slowly, so you have time. A year, though, is too long. Get a new endo...

You  might need a different endo.

We have a member who is really good with ultra sound/biopsy results; hopefully, he will see this and respond.
