my mom needs to do radioactiveRadioactive iodine uptake iodine treatment and her numbers have to be up to 25 before they will do the treatment she is off all her thyroid medicines so her number should be going up but it goes from 7 to 13 back down to 9 why is this happening? Should we be concerned?
Probably her pituitary gland is now over-compensating and trying to "kick start" her thyroid. Has she had a TT? I am two weeks post-op, I think it takes six weeks for all the levels to fall. You might just put a call in to the doc, but she probably has to wait it out.
She had her thyroid taken out and she had a tumor removed , so now they said she has to do the radioactiveRadioactive iodine uptake iodine scan to remove any cancer cells roaming in her body. In order to have the scan her levels have to be at least 25 or higher to do the scan. Shes been off her thyroid medication for 5 months her numbers should have sky rocketed by now but its back down to 9.
