thyroid confussion

After having some simple blood test done my Doctor order some more specific test concerning my thyroid.  They are still confussed and referring me to a specialist.  My thyroid levels are fine however the stimulating hormone is high and antibodies are attacking my thyroid gland.  My doctor also felt some nodules om my thyroid.  I do not have specific levels, but can you shine some light on this situation?  Can this situation effect your heart ryhthem?

There is a TPO test to tell if you have thyroid antibodies.  Thyroid Peroxidase (TPO) meands that your thyroid is under attack & won't be able to do what it should be doing.  You will need thyroid hormone to replace the hornomes that thyroid can no longer deliver.  The thyroid normally produces a range of thyroid hormones (t1, t2, t3, t4, calcitonin).  Many docs give only t4.  I felt better getting replacement from a broader range of hormones.

I meant to say: Hypothyroidism can cause certain types of heart conditions if left untreated for a long period of time. Hypothyroidism can be associated with certain heart problems and mild high blood pressure. Untreated hypothyroidism can also cause congestive heart failure, a condition in which a weakened heart is unable to pump enough blood to body organs. In severe cases, the brain itself is affected. The person can lose mental function and even go into a coma. The long-term effects of untreated hypothyroidism can be profound. Severe, prolonged hypothyroidism can lead to multiple abnormalities within any system of the body including heart, brain, and skin. Untreated hypothyroidism can cause heart disease, osteoporosis or thinning of the bones, and infertility in women. If left untreated for many years, severe hypothyroidism can eventually lead to death.

Thanks for your comments and advice.  This has worried me more than you know.  I've always had perfect health.  I have an appt with Ortho at the end of this month.  What about the high level of TSH, if that normal with this?

Your TSH suggest hypothyroidism.  Your normal T-4 and T-3 suggest it is not autroimmune or any other thyroid issues other than hypothyroidism.  Did doctor put you on thyroid hormone meds.?  

Hypothyroidism might slow down your plus.  And hyperthyroidism can cause certain types of heart conditions if left untreated for a long period of time, among other health issues.

After reading the postings from everyone else, I went and got a copy of my labs.  My TSH levels on 9/7/06 were 46.581 and on 10/05/06 75.198.  My T4 and T3 levels seem to be within normal range.  Is it normal to have your levels increase this quickly?  What d these levels indicate?  Can these increase in levels effect your heart beats per minute?
