thyroid eye problems

by gingerjohan, Jan 10, 2008 06:50AM
I have the symptoms of dry eye, with blurry side vision , this  being very bothersome.  The Eye  Doc says my thyroid levels in 2 areas are off. one level is high and one is low. Which to him indicates a  more in depth check of levels.  when I have blood tests, I am told by my PCP that thyroid  levels are normal and the dose of levoxyl is correct.
I want to get this resovled. Does anyone else have the blurred perifieal vision? along with Dry eye symptoms? If so,   What has been done to help  correct this?  Is an Endocrinloogist in order?

Yes I have those symptoms.  But nothing has been done yet.  If you have not been to an endo yet.  I would strongly suggest you getting one.

I would get the opinion of an endocrinologist. Do not trust PCP to accurately treat your thyroid/eye problems.

Are you looking to get the TSH dwon to around 1? In the "normal range" is not good enough. Not all PCP's now this.

Please keep us updated.

I would agree with the others, you need to go to an Endocrinologist, but along with that I would also get to see a eye specialist, I was diagnosed in October with Hyperthyroidism, with TED's
If they havn't tested your TSI, you might have them check that as well, but if you are having the blurred vision and dry eye, the eye specialist can determine if you are having damage done to your eyes, and if there is anything that needs to be done in that area.
