thyroid nodule

Hi
This is my first time here. I'm trying to decipher the finds from a CT Scan done for a nodule on my thyroid. Symptoms include a viral infection lasting 3 weeks, a course of Zithromax, Albuterol inahler, Nebs, Robitussin w/Codeine, Prilosec, Claritin and a bed wedge. No relief. Choking episodes at night, hoarse voice, loss of voice and breath if yawning. Blood work revealed low Vit D and Calcium levels, told to up vit D and Calcium intake. Fibro meds include Voltarin, Flexeril, Celexa and HCTZ for BP. ENT visit is sched for upcoming Monday. Questions...will they do a FNA biopsy right then and there? Pain with that? CT results are as follows:1.1 x 1.0 cm heterogeneously enhancing nodule is present in the lower pole of the right thyroid lboe. The midportion of the right thyroid lobe also enhances heterogeneously. No focal abnormality is identified in the left thyroid lobe, submandibular glands or parotid gland. No lymph node enlargement is present. No focla abnormality is iedentified in the oro-or hypopharynx. Dependant change ispresent in the superior segment of both upper lobes. Images paranasal sinues are clear. No focal abnormality is identieied in the imaged portions of the orbits or brain.
Any answers to questions is most appreciated.
Lynne

In this case the ultrasound with RAI uptake scan could give more information about the specific features of the nodule as well if nodule is hot, warm or cold.
Also if RAIU is low [8%] it can point to subacute thyroiditis, which sometimes follows the respiratory infection.
Normal lymph nodes can indicate that nodule is not cancerous.
1.1 x 1.0 cm heterogeneous nodule is larger then 1 cm , so biopsy is likely for that.[however the CT scan is only 85% accurate to determine the size campared to the ultrasound [according to the literature]
