thyroid nodules

My brother and sister both had thyroid cancer....my Mom had thyroid removed no cancer....ENT did bloodwork for
antibodies still waiting for results of that.
If it is positive for Hashmoto's does that mean the nodules are not cancer?  should I still go ahead and get the FNA on the nodules? If I am Hypo does it mean the nodules are not cancer? not sure where to go from here.
Ultrasound showed 3 nodules...TSH up and down the past few years....

Cindi.  Solid smooth nodules are not usually a problem, but they really can't tell.  Was there vascularity?  Cancer needs a blood supply, if there was no blood flow on dopplar then they are probably not as concerned.  Check the report for blood flow.  Also check for calcifications.  If there is no blood flow and no calcifications, you could probably wait and re-check in 6 months.  1.5 cm is big enough for biopsy, but more information is needed, ask for copies of everything when you go back.

My ENT said I had two small nodules 6mm and one big one that was solid not a cyst at 1.5.
the borders were smooth this is just from me looking at it and talking to Tech...going to get the report myself on Monday find out more.  He gave me a choice of waiting 6 months taking synthroid and getting another ultrasound with my family history???? opted for biopsy next week.  What was he thinking?  unless the report on ultrasound wasn't as bad as I thought?

No, I had both Hashi's and cancer.  Yes, get the FNA, especially with your family history.  How big were the nodules, what type?  Solid? Cystic? Vascular?  Irregular or smooth borders?
