I recently had an ultrasound, where 2 nodules were found. One was 1.8 cm complex nodule in the mid to lower pole on the right lobe. On the left lobe there is a 2.5cm upper nodule. Both lobes are normalNormal saline flush size and echotexture. (not sure what that means) I was told by that a complex nodule means it is solid, by a very helpful person on Medhelp form. Is this true? I am going to get a FNA next week.
Thanks for any help that you can give.
thanks so much for the info. I am so very happy that I found this forum to help answer my questions. It is a great relief to communicate with people who have had virtually the same experiences that I am going through!

A complex nodule usually means that the nodule shows both cystic (fluid-filled) and solid properties. In my case, I had a 2.2cm complex nodule that contained 1.5cm of solid papillary carcinoma. Complex nodules are more worrisome, but still not generally cancer.
Good luck to you, let us know how your FNA goes--there are tons of us who have been there!
Even if the FNA is inconclusive or benign, don't ignore the nodules. Two of my sisters had complex nodules and benign FNAs but both had cancer. You will need to keep a close eye on these nodules.
Please keep us posted!
