thyroid removal

by lisads, Mar 06, 2008 03:35PM
I had my thyroid completely removed in 2003.  At that time I weighed 100 lbs.  This was my natural weight, and I ate whatever I liked.  I now weight 122 lbs, and this was gained immediately after the removal.  I went from a size 0 to a 6 in about 9 months.  I hate it!  I spoke to my doctor who tells me I am a normal weight, and he does not consider that this was not my weight prior to thyroid removal.  Now, I work out 6 days a week for 3 hours each day.  I only eat 1000 calories a day, and I also take a fat burner.  Still, I continue to gain weight or loose nothing.  It is obvioulsy my thyroid as I have always been the skinniest person.  I am so sick of this.  What can be done to get me back to my normal size.  I am beginning to wish I had left the cancer in.

I don"t think you should be worried about weighing 122 lbs. That's not very heavy even if you are not tall. And to say you wish you still had the cancer is foolish. Please be content with your weight and concentrate on being healthy. Many people would love to be so lucky.

I had a TT back in 94 (hyperthyroidism), I was down to 100 lbs because of it. My normal weight has always been 115-120 never below or above.I did not gain a lot of weight afterwards, but once my medication was where it should be I have basically maintained the same weight(115-120)  I know a lot of people become hypo afterwards, but for some reason i never did. I don't know what your height is, but 100lbs seems to little, even for me. I am down to 104, but that is because i have something else going on. What are you taking and at what dose. I am assuming your levels are okay?
