thyroidectomy after hashimoto's

by sickandtired260, Apr 14, 2009 07:46PM
I had hashimoto's Thyroiditis with 2 nodules.  It's been 4 weeks since total thyroidectomy, why do I feel worse than ever?  I was wondering what the immune system will do now, will it attack something else?

Have you been put on any meds yet?  I have been told that after TT, and new meds, it can take up to 6 weeks to feel better, but if it's bad, I'd call my dr again.  Might need an adjustment.  I'm at 3 weeks myself.  You're not alone.  : )

I'm almost 4 weeks post op from TT. I had similar thoughts about my immune system attacking something else. I'm going to ask my endo next month. I still sometimes feel maybe my dr's jumped the gun to take my whole thyroid out. I had a hurthle cell neoplasm in left lobe and the right lobe looked worse than my left so ended up doing TT. Final diagnosis hasimoto's thyroiditis. I read these forums almost every day to make myself feel better. I realize I'm not alone and that the people on these forums really understand.
