Question: take 30 millicuries of radioactive iodine or not?
Hi, I had a total thyroidectomy in January 2010 due to a 9mm cancer on my vocal cord. In March I had radioactive iodine treatment in a locked hospital room for 2 days, only side effects was slight nausea, I believe i had 5,500 mcg of iodine. This treatment was repeated in September 2010 at 20% of original dosage, - stayed at home for 2 days - absolutely no side effect at all. My Surgeon insists this is absolutely vital to ensure that all/any remaining cancer cells are destroyed. It also has given me peace of mind knowing that all results are absolutely clear. Hope this helps. Regards, Kibby777
