"Gland is mildly enlargedEnlarged adenoids Enlarged prostate measuring 4.4 cm x 1.5 cm x 1.5 cm on the right and 4.5 cm x 1.7 cm x 1.6 cm on the left. No nodules are seen on the right although gland is markedly inhomogeneous in appearance. In the left lobe there is a 1.5 cm solid nodule which is well circumscribed containing a thin septation."
I find I'm very scattered and forgetful. It would be helpful to know what to ask/tell my doctor as she is not familiar with me as I've moved so I could prepare a list.
Unfortunately I found it necessary to stress my history of high academic achievement and athletic competitiveness before she moved beyond the 'depression' diagnosis and found the thyroid issue. Oops, sorry a rant escaped.
If you are an adult, the size of your thyroid is within NORMALNormal saline flush limits.[per ultrasound guidelines]
heterogeneous structure is sign of the inflammation. [thyroiditis]
Have TPO antibodies checked [to rule out autoimmune thyroiditis]
the solid nodule of 1.5 cm may require biopsy testing.
I had my uptake and scan today, they showed me 4 perfectly uniform pictures of yellowYellow fever vaccine Yellow nail syndrome butterflies. I suspect this is good news, however it doesn't seem to correspond to the Ultrasound findings. Could this be because I'm 4 weeks off synthroid, better off without it??? 8 years of taking it, maybe I'm cured? Inquiry minds want to know!...lol, I'm so impatient with this ignorance of mine.
Do you think they will skip the biopsy? Should I push for the antibody test?
Thanks for your time and help, it's very much appreciated
Uniform uptake is suggesting that the nodule is 'warm' which means it could be possible overgrowth of normal thyroid tissue or it can be thin [lens shape vs ball shape]. this may be true especially if nodule is not palpable, but found on the ultrasound [also called pseudonodule].
it can be good idea to repeat the ultrasound using high resolution machine.
Phone message from doc said test was normal, but given the size of nodule 1.5cm I was to follow up with an endo and they gave me a number. Cool eh? I called back and left a message asking what I should do about the meds I had to stop.
Pseudo is good right??
Thanks
convinced doc to check antibodies.. peroxidase was 818, thyroglobulin is still pending.
After stopping 137 synthroid for 4 weeks and then back on for 1 week, TSH was 33.48 t4 .9
Silly they even tested it with the change in meds.... I want to refuse to pay for it.. tee hee
I was told scan didn't show anything.... I said I thought it might have read "warm" and then she agreed it was was 'indeterminate' which I think is different from not showing anything.. sigh.
Looks like you're right on the money so far.... Merci Boucoup
On a side note my triglicerides (triglycerides) where 176 chol 278 hdl 44 ldl 199 (all out of spec)
doc suggesed throid issue was cause of these irregularies. what do you thing??
