what does this # mean?

I have hep-c and was just lately told that I have hypothyroidism. I was also told that my report says that Component: TSH. 3rd Generation      Result 1.93         Please explain what does this number mean.

Actually the TSH 3rd generation test is not being used hardly anymore. It's really a non - responsive test to understanding low thyroid function.

I seriously wouldn't go by that lab to determine anything. Knowing your history a bit more may help as said above.

If you want a more reliable look at if you have hypothyroidism, consider looking up symptoms and get the Free T3 and Free T4 thyroid labs checked.

Hi,

A TSH of 1.93 would normally not be considered hypothyroid (latest reference range is somethinng like 0.5 - 3.0).

Did you have other test results that may indicate hypothyroid? Please post results and reference ranges. Do you have symtoms?
