what kind of thyroid tests do I need to rule out graves and toxic goiter?

by TamraW, Jul 10, 2009 09:41PM
Hi, all. Right now my endo says I have mild hyperparathyroidism. The surgeon has ordered more blood work just to be sure. If my surgeon isn't convinced of parathyroid disease, I'd like my endo to look into thyroid issues, since my symptoms are also very similar to graves, and I have three benign nodules. One of them actually hurts. Also, my mom had her right thyroid and some nodules removed and now she's on Synthroid.

So far these are the thyroid tests run by my doctor. TSH (2.69) and FT4 (1.3) both within normal limits. Should I ask for additional tests?

Thanks,
Tamra
