what's up???

I have been being treated with 175mcg synthroid for the last 3 months, and my doctor says my TSH is in a normal range at 2.53. My pulse goes from normal to bounding, I stay tired, can't sleep, and now I am starting to bruise easily. The doctor says the knots in my throat are submandibular glands not my thyroid, and is sending me to a caerdiologist because he feels I have an infection somewhere, and as I have 3 stents (no personal history of heart disease, just some narrowing in the major arteries in the heart), he feels I need to see a heart doctor. I feel strongly that it is somehow related to the endocrine system. What can it be? I have a sister whose thyroid, pancreas, and adrenal glands are not working, and I do not want to get into the same shape. Can I have hyper-thyroid symptoms with a normal thyroid level, and if so what can cause it????

Updated reference range for hypo T is .3 - to 3.0. Reading that range you are on the high end of normal.  But near hypO thyroid. not hyper.  You have a large family history of auto immune disorders. Is your doctor aware of this - maybe a reminder at your next visit is needed.

If your family has adrenal issues along with the large list of other auto immune problems- get an antibody test TPO. I am fighting to get that done right now.

You have issues with your heart- as I do not. Thyroid issues can effect that - so maybe seeing a cardiologist would be good. I think you need to have both your treating doctor for your thyroid issues and the cardio doc working together to make sure your heart is protected.

Just because your TSH is 2.53 does not mean this is the right TSH for you.  Most people on this forum seem to feel the best a 1.0.  I have the same TSH as you do and I still feel like he//.  I'm hoping my doctor will increase my dosage of synthroid to .88 mcgs to see if it will help.  I sort of think he won't.  In that case, I am going to see and Internist.  I am so fed up with these doctors that do not listen to your symptoms and only go by the paperwork.  My doctor seriously thinks it is in my head.  I seriously think I need a new doctor.  I have had all the symptoms you mention and I still have no energy and feel like I am stuck.  Anyway, thanks for letting me vent.  Hope you can feel better soon.
