I am 11 weeks preganant and recently had my TSHPituitary and tsh Tsh levels as 8., normalNormal saline flusht4T4 test.Iwas on 50 mcg of thyroxine and it has been increased to 100mcg. I am worried as I have read articles saying that high maternal TSHPituitary and tsh Tsh can cause low IQ n babies.will my baby be at risk?please help
High risk of development problems are from non treatment over a long period of time.
Make sure your dr runs the Free T3 and Free T4T4 test with the TSH. You need to make sure that your ACTIVE thyroid hormone levels are acurate (the Free's). You also want to make sure you are converting properly.
Don't stress.....
Get a copy of your labs and let us know your test results with labs. :)
Hello Mybaby10. I hope you are doing well.
I am in the same situation right now. I am 6weeks pregnant. I will take my meds too. Not too much and not too low.
That is the hardest part...to figure out...right? I think you are doing well....just be careful about your amount and health condition. Listen to your body and any concerns/changes related to medication possibly...contact your doctor right away!
My case is little bit bad before even figuring out the right dosage, I got pregnant.
My doctors are telling me to take some thyroid hormone replacement medication.
I wish I had the right dosage, but I will start as 25mcg from tomorrow and see how my TSH will do well in four or six weeks. I don't want to my TSH goes too low, but having higher number of TSH is not good either. I read a lot and it may impact early brain development of baby...Too low TSH is everything fast in your system as hyperthyroid, so there are some negative impact on baby too if your TSH went too low and shows some symptoms. Ask your doctor what is the desired TSH level and your health condition.....I have been told something around TSH 2 below and 0.3 or so for pregnant women?
If you go with 100mcg and if there is any concerned symptoms, you should tell you doctors. (More likely it will not happen in over night with different dosage..)
In different time, I was allowed to take my TSH, FT4 test when my health got really worse as super tired and painfully no energy before I got pregnant and it was not due for 6 weeks time frame for TSH check either. However my TSH was much higher than usual. That is when I have to start my medication.
Also there are some more dosage amount between 50 to 100, so doctor could adjust your amount as well....
