thyroid symtoms

I  am so sure I have low thyroid I have all the symptoms even the eye twitch. My doctor gave a t3 and t4 test and apparently they came back in the normal range.  I don't know what to do, I am so tired of feeling rotten. Any suggestions? I wish I could take synthroid just to see if I feel better. Is there any other tests I can take?

did they do a tsh blood test?  Also a T3 and T4 test only test the total amount of the hormone in your blood stream and not which is Free and which is Bound. Go back to your doctor and tell him to test you for T3 free and T4 free blood panel also a tsh is also nessessary.  Hope this helps. I'm in the same boat as you. Sometimes we can't depend on the doctors to do the right thing so be assertive and insist.

Ask your doctor for a full thyroid blood panel

TSH,T3 Free, and T4 Free. and what ever else goes with that, but I think that those three will at least get you on the right track. When my TSH level came out at .003 they only gave me a T3 and T4 blood test and they were both normal so it didn't explain why my TSH level was so low.  I asked them why they didn't do the T3 free and T4 free and the doctor said he didn't think it was nessessary and that it was more expensive to do the Free test. I was very angry because now I have to go back and do the T3 and T4 Free tests. So tell me how where was there any expense saved when I now have to put out for a blood test that I should have had in the first place. Let me know how it turns out.

Feeling crummy as you do I'm sure.

Hi Bonnie

I know when I first went to the doctor I had one of the tests and it came back normal so I insisted on the other t test and that came back normal range  I will phone the doctors office tomorrow to see what tests I actually had, I also asked about the anti body test and she said something to the effect that you only do that if the others test aren't normal. What do you think?

Thanks so much for your imput.

She's right about that. There's is something you should know though is if your test fall on the low side of the testing scale you could still be having thyroid systoms. It is always wise to know exactly what your doctor is testing for and to keep yourself educated.  Our medical system is so money oriented that they forgot their place in our society and their oath. they over load the amount of dailey cases and loose that personal touch that is exchanged for a dollar sign. If you would like to learn more about the actual tests go to www.amarillomed.com  I found that quite informative. Best of Luck

My doctor told me the same thing about the antibodies test but if you read here and other sites you will see that many with normal thyroid levels tested positive for antibodies. I went out on my own and had the antibodies test done online. I finally felt well enough to get my blood drawn today and will know the results by Wed. It's a process of elimination and since my symptoms are identical to hyperthyroidism I am going to exhaust all thyroid avenues benfore I go to anything else. If you think there is something wrong with you then there most likely is. Keep a symptom diary (I learned alot about my symptoms by keeping a daily diary) and research all you can online. Good luck.
