Why did you have to remove or partially remove your thyroid?

My Endo wants me to remove my thyroid,because, he feels it would be easier to control than now with the nodules, goiter,and hypothyroidism. This would be less stress. I would not have the thoughts of malignancy or not. I am just not ready to do this. I feel this would be worst with trying to keep the levels were they need to be.
