Tear Duct cauterization

by chankla, Oct 14, 2009 09:56PM
I'll try to keep a long story short.  Diagnosed with Waldronstrom's Macroglobulemia 2yrs  ago.  Had bone marrow transplant over just over a year ago.  Now, struggling with GVHD that is effecting my leg muscles, joints and eyes. My eyes are so painfully D-R-Y and of course, this effects my vision.  Doc has tried eye plugs (in tear ducts) and of course, drops and gel.  Gel provides relief for about 15min. Plugs do not help at all.  Now, he wants to cauterize tear ducts in both eyes. If the plugs didn't provide the relief, isn't this procedure pointless?  Any information you can provide will be helpful.  Thanks!
