Only one trigger?

Hi, I'm just wondering if it's possible to have TN with only one trigger. I have these very painful shocks on my cheeks, front of jaw, chin, sometimes eyebrows, and it's on both sides of the face but usually left side, and only brought on when I'm very hot or I'm in a very hot room. I haven't read of anyone with just one trigger though. Anyone? Thanks :)

One of my physician's has trigem. neuralgia and he says it bothers him only in the cold and wind & when he gets extremely upset...takes a pill and he's fine--wish that was easy for all of us. I thought Trigem. was only on one side of the face. I've been told I have trigem. by three drs.---all wrong. Gabapentin did nothing for me except swell up my ankle--watch side effects of meds. Good luck.

Let us know how it goes with the neurologist. Your experience may help someone else. My first hope for everyone is that it's not TN. Take care!

Hi Nancy, yes I'm seeing a neurologist soon. It's very weird because it fits TN to a t, however I only get it in relation to the heat. Oh well, hopefully the neuro sorts out what it is! Difficult to do anything, especially when it's warm out. Maybe I will move to Alaska. :)

The good news is, maybe it's not Trigeminal neuralgia. Have you seen a nueurologist?  TN is usually a diagnosis of ruling out everything else.
