Trigeminal Neuralgia and Crohn's Disease

by facehurts, Apr 16, 2009 12:37PM
I have both trigeminal neuralgia and crohns' disease and was told I cannot take tegretol and imuran together. Is there anyone on the list who can take both drugs together? If not, did you have any changes done to the crohns meds to allow you to take tegretol?

Today I use Elavil and baclofen for TN and imuran for crohns.
Prior to usage of imuran, I was strongly dependent on prednisone. I also have had remicade in the past but together with imuran.

Thanks

I too have suffered from Neuralgia. I have been placed on a cocktail of drugs just to be able to bear the pain. I discovered  that if you use a  massage tool  on the back of the neck or the point where the pain begins, it will be bearable. I actually when to work with one strapped to the back of my neck at full blast, held it on there with a part of panty hose.  ( I have long wavy hair so it looked like a head band in the front).People thought I was nuts, but I felt soooo much better. Anther thing I don't understand about this condition is that I have been told that it is not hereditary, however both my daughter and mother have it.

Good luck!
