trigeminal neuralgia or not?

hi, i'm 25 years old,female..I have intermittent pain (pain is sharp and sometimes pulsating, and my cheeks feels warm) on my right upper teeth and sometimes on my right lower teeth...also I am experiencing lock jaw on my right side sometimes, my dentist told me to just massage it, still it occur sometimes...anyway about my pain, i don't know any trigger, all though sometimes after eating something warm, it starts after a few minutes...but if I brush my teeth the pain is relieved...I feel its already affecting my ears, but my eyes are not affected...any comments?

Be careful though.  I know people who have had all their teeth pulled and then found out it WAS TN after all. This nerve has little branches that touch every tooth and it often presents itself as a toothache first.

Make sure the dentist is correct before you go thru extractions.

yes thank you for the response, i have been reading about it and i don't think its TN...i went to another dentist since after maybe almost two weeks of pain, i was able to pinpoint exactly what tooth was aching and the dentist told me its better to have tooth extraction, since rooth canal would not be suitable, it will just cost me money...turns out there's something wrong with my bite, so my gums are getting inflamed from the trauma...anyway I'm just thankful to God its not TN...this site has been most helpful, thanks nancy99n

I responded to your second post.

As I said there, TN is usually diagnosed by ruling out everything else and listening to your symptom description.

The TN nerve has little breaches that affect most parts of your face. Do a search for the online version of grays anatomy. There are good diagrams that show how it can affect your eyes, ears, nose, teeth.

Let us know how it's going
