Let's share what natural remedies or lifestyle changes we have made to increase our fertility!

I'm really interested in natural remedies to balance hormones and increase fertility and thought we might all benefit from hearing what others are doing to increase their chances of conception...

SO.... what remedies or lifestyle changes have you made? And have you conceived while using them???

Muscle milk is a drink that my DH drinks during the day when he is feeling sluggish and no motivation and still has many more hours to work. You can pick them up at the grocery store or even the gas station(more expensive.) It can come in a powder as well. But a lot of men like to drink after a work out because all it is.. is a liquid form of vitamins that replenished the body after work out really hard, or like a meal re-placer. My DH works a good 8-15 hours per day outdoors and these drinks can keep him going on those long days. They come in different flavors like chocolate, vanilla, strawberry and banana. DH like them because he want to build "THOSE MUSCLES" and the name is Muscle Milk, and its lactose free....good luck with this...

About they ectopic, yes I did just have emergency surgery  had to have the right tube removed because of ruptured on the 9th of sep and dicharged on the 11th, It was like having a c-section w/o baby.matter of fact I just had my 2 week check up today and the dr gave me the thumbs up that the left tube is clear and I am healing very well. I can start BD 2-3 more weeks and possible ttc around the first of the year (time to heal real good)

Thank you for the thought and prayers, they are all well used. SSBD to everyone Sorry so long

thanks for the reply, renee82! what's muscle milk? i've never heard of it before.

this might make a diff for us as my hubby won't take vitamins or anything -- i've talked to him about it repeatedly, lol! after many discussions he says now he will take a multi but i have to remind him everyday -- how sexy is that? lol ;)

i'm sorry to hear about your ectopic, but glad you are okay and recovering. do you mean you just had surgery sept 9th to address the ectopic? sending you lots of healing energy!! xoxo

When DH and i were trying in the month of July/August (before ectopic sep 9, had a c-section) I was only taking prenatal, cutting out caffeine and just trying to eat a better life style, my DH husband realized that he libido was higher than before and it was because he was drinking muscle milk, which was replenishing all the nutrition's he was working off during the day. So thats when I realized it wasnt me but it was the lack of HID swimmers and with the muscle milk I guess his swimmers swam a little to far. But check up on Monday and probably another 2-4 more weeks of NO BD. Than its back to TTC. ~*~SSBD~*~

Flax seed
Prenatal vitamin
VITAMIN B50 COMPLEX (this is VERY important to take for ttc!!!!)

I think that's it! I also drink green tea regularly.

with the tea i have been drinking, i had noticed it in the past starting to help regulate my cycle (i didnt take it for very long and already saw those results). as well it really helped to shorten my periods as well as make them less painful (i have endometriosis and periods kill!). like i mentioned, i didnt take the tea as long as i wanted to, but im really cracking down and making it a routine. And im sure the benefits are going to be even better this time around! And its really tasty tea! I dont even have to add anything to it

hey there bev!

thanks for the tips -- i hadn't heard about grapefruit juice being good for CM before!  i doubt that i can take the cough syrup as i have a heart murmur and get an irregular heart beat with most cold meds but i'll check it out... also, did your doc say how much b6 is safe to take? i take a prenatal every day but also know that b vitamins in general are excreted from the body quite quickly (basically you pee them out) and thought maybe i should top it off. the amount of b6 (and most nutrients) in prenatals is quite low.

and don't worry about having one fallopian tube. my mom had an ectopic years ago and lost hers and went on to have three kids! AND i have a lot of friends who have had their kids in their 40s.

oh, there is one thing i forgot to mention... it's not really a natural remedy, but it's about the mind-body connection/meditation which studies show are beneficial for fertility. i started circle and bloom's natural cycle fertility meditation this month and i have to say i love it. i have a high stress job and it helps me relax and has helped restore/reinforce my confidence in my body after having my miscarriage last year (which really shook my confidence).

sending lots of baby dust to us all!!!

Hi Kimmery,I have been on clomid for the past 2 months and take robitussin cough syrup and a glass of grapefriut juice daily to help CM.I also take folic acid, iron tablets, vitamin b6 and eat sweet potato every day as its rich in folic acid.I have high levels of folic acid my doctor said which is good. The vitamin b6 helps with your cycle especially the LP and the iron is good for red blood cells.I have yet to concieve but will keep you posted.I think as long as what your taking is benificial then it can only be a good thing.Love to hear how everyone else gets on keep me posted ladies thanks.bev SSBD xx

hi piscean4!

wow, so your doctor thought ground flaxseed was a bad idea? interesting... maybe i should stop taking it. just in case i didn't have any this AM. i'm glad i spoke to you both as the idea that it could cause bdefects is a scary one.

i'm thinking of starting chasteberry (vitex) this month if i get a BFN. i've seen the teas that sarah is drinking/recommended and might just pick some up! @sarah: what changes did you notice when you started drinking it?

have you girls heard anything about l-arginine? i've been researching it and it's supposed to help with fertility. thinking i might also add that to my regime :)

Hi everyone! I have started eating only organic produce since the chemicals in conventional food can really mess up the hormones. I am going to start with omega 3 supplement this week onwards as it has the essential fats our reproductive system needs, i have really cut down on processed foods and sugar and i only use olive oil     for cooking purposes. I was eating 1 tbsp of ground flaxeed powder earlier but then my. Dr asked me to stop taking it as it may cause estrogen imbalance.

thanks sepears1-- i'll add what i've been doing to increase our chances!

i've been taking a supplement called 'estrosense' which contains ingredients that are supposed to help your body eliminate bad estogens (i didn't even know that our liver helps our body to do this!): D-glucarate, Indole-3-carbinol (I3C), Green tea extract (Caffeine free), Turmeric, Milk Thistle, Rosemary extract, Lycopene and Sulforaphane (from broccoli). it's supposed to help your body detox and excrete bad estrogens (there are supposed to be good and bad estrogens).

i also try as best as i can to avoid estrogenic foods (avoid soy, coffee, non-organic dairy and meats, and limit alcohol). some of these foods also tax your adrenals, which can also affect your hormonal balance.

like sepears1, i'm also confused about flaxseed. i've been grinding up a tablespoon everyone morning as it's supposed to be amazing at helping your body excrete excess estrogen, so if anyone knows anything i'm very interested!

hi kim! I guess I will be the first t comment. I dont have much to say, but I'll start the list off anyway.

Right now, I am taking a tea called FertiliTea that I got from earlypregnancytests.com. Its a herbal loose tea to be drunk 2-3 times a day (although I have heard good results with only being drunk once a day). It contains:
-Vitex(chasteberry)- which helps with triggering ovulation and helps to balance hormones.
-red raspberry leaf- which is a fertility-promoting herb and is high in nutrients
-green tea- is powerful antioxidant
-ladies mantle- which helps to tone the cervix and regulate monthly cycles
- nettle leaf- contains lots of vitamins and minerals that help reproductive health
-peppermint leaf- for flavor and sexual stimulant

I took this tea for my last cycle and it actually really helped! I only took it once a day and i saw the benefits to it.

As well, kimmery and I were having a discussion about flaxseed oil. We have both found inconclusive results on whether its okay to take during conceiving/pregnancy. One source will say yes, another will say no, so if anyone has any definitive info on that, it would be appreciated!
