16yr old with chronic headache and vertigo

My 16 yr old daughter passed out 55 days ago an did not hit her head when she fell to her knees.  Since then, she has had a bad headache (that does not ever go away), vertigo, nausea and vomiting (she was previously diagnosed with IBS).  Her head hurts in the lower back part and in the front.  It is kind of like in a halo shape.  She feels a lot of pressure in the back part of her head.  The room seems to be spinning a good deal of the time for her.  This occurs when she is standing, sitting, even when she is lying down.  She is very light sensitive, prefering to be in a blacked out room all the time.

She has seen a CVS minute clinic worker, 2 ER doctors, her family physician, a pediatric neurologist, an eye doctor and a otolarygologist thus far.  MRI and Spinal tap were normal.  Her bloodwork indicated low ferratin (iron stores) and an elevated ANA which is being evaluated further.  ANA elevations often have to do with Lupus and her symptoms do not fit that disorder.  She has had strong IV meds for pain and has been given steroids (in case it was inner ear swelling).  These meds did not touch her pain. She is currently is taking amitryptaline, promethazine and benadryl; as prescribed by her neurologist.  They are not helping.  Next, she will see a pediatric neurologist who specializes in treating headaches at a prestigious hospital a couple of hours from our home but we could not get an appt until the end of Dec.  We are also trying to schedule an appt with an ENT who can do vestibular testing to see if he can get help with the vertigo.  This is a very bright young lady who earned her way into a free boarding school and loves to learn.

She did get some vaccinations before she left for school and I wonder if any of those might have caused her issues.  She got sick about a month after going to school. She had to leave school once already (to be hospitalized) and has been allowed to reduce her course load due to her issues.  She may have to drop out of school soon because she is having trouble studying and remembering things even with a reduced load; due to her health.  Any ideas to help her get well would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi to both of you and I'm sorry you're going through all this.

Two significant observations.
1.   Leading to iron deficiency anemia, low  ferritin is the earliest manifestation of iron depletion, the drop in  iron and iron saturation appear next and eventually anemia develops.
Two other conditions  are associated with low ferritin. One is hypothyroidism and the other is MTHFR gene mutation.
All these MUST be explored further!
2. "She did get some vaccinations before she left for school", " got sick about a month after".
Interesting.  With a MTHFR gene mutation, vaccinations instead of prompting the immune system  to produce a desired immune response to protect from the virus,  may activate the virus.

Multiple factors contribute to the development of chronic viral infections
in response to vaccines containing these viral agents:

-Microflora imbalance (linked to IBS or leaky gut?)
-Metal toxicity (look into high copper, mercury & others)
-Low glutathione (needed for detoxification and anti-oxidant activity)
due to -undetected?- strep infection
-High TNFa (inflammatory chemicals)
-High stress levels
-Undermethylation (related to MTHFR , high stress levels and /or other)

Any combination of the above factors, put your daughter at a higher risk
when she received her shots, of developing chronic infectious conditions and other consequences.

Since I do not have all the necessary details, I cannot make any comments with any greater specificity, however, my suggestion is to seek a good functional medicine doctor to help her with all this.

The approach so far, treating her symptoms with random drugs -which are not even addressing them, is totally ineffective.

Please consider asking her doctors to wean her off, or discontinue- if safe- the meds, which are clearly not going to help her.

Feel free to post again or to message me any time, however, my suggestions and comments are not intended s a substitute for medical advice.

Best wishes.
Niko

I desperately wish I knew! I am currently going through the same thing and I am also 16! I will be praying for healing for her and peace and comfort for y'all's family! If you find out more information on what's happening I would be ever so grateful if you would possibly share it with me.
