18 years old. Always hungry.

Hello.

I'm an 18 year old male from England. For the past 7 months or so I've been getting hungry ALOT, no matter what I eat. If I eat a big meal, 2 hours or so later I'll begin to feel hungry. Although my hands don't shake, it feels like my body on the inside is actually shaking and I still to get a bit lightheaded. If I eat, these symptoms generally go away.

I used to suffer with chronic anxiety, but recently it has cleared up a bit. But I am absolutely terrified of being hypoglycemic, it worries me every single day and I wonder if the symptoms I'm getting are all mental because I know anxiety can mimic quite alot of symptoms.

So, my symptoms are :

- Hungry about 2 hours after I eat, even after big meals.
- When I feel hungry, I get what feels to be a burning sensation in my stomach, my stomach hardly ever rumbles.
- My body starts to feel like it is shaking on the inside.
- I eat 30 mins before I go to bed so I don't wake up in the night hungry, but when I wake up after about 8 hours sleep, I feel really hungry.
- When I get these hunger spells, I don't really have an appetite, I just have to force feed my self food to take the symptoms away.
- I have put on a lot of weight because I have been eating more in the day.

Any information/advice would be appreciated, Thanks.

Hi
Well, worms in gut is definitely a possibility-like tape worm, round worm. You may miss the worms. It happens. So do get a stool test done too. Also read through my previous post and discuss all these possibilities with your doctor. I am sure something will come up. All the best!

Hi
Welcome to the forum!
You will be surprised to know that stomach ulcers and severe acidity can result in hunger pangs. Even GERD presents with similar symptoms. At times the hunger pangs due to acidity wakes up a person in the wee hours of night. Omeprazole is a good drug to combat this. Along with it you can try over the counter antacids. However I would recommend you see a doctor and take medication under a doctor’s supervision. Avoid heavy meals. Avoid too much of caffeine, tea, fried food and drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic fuzzy ones. Avoid heavy exercises within 4 hours of a heavy meal. Raise the head end of the bed by pillows to 30 degrees. Go to bed at least 2 hours after food.
Hunger can be controlled. Keep a diary of what you eat. Some food stuffs make you hungry earlier where as others do not. Remove all high calorie and high glycemic index food items from your house. Keep healthy nutritious food, plenty of fiber rich food and plenty of fruits and vegetables.
Also the other possibility is diabetes. Especially if you have a family history or you are over weight, this has to be ruled out as a cause of hunger.
Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

I always feel tired and have no energy. I had a blood test done about 2 years ago and it showed that I was anaemic, however I took medication and it cleared up and it didn't show on the other blood test I had.
