20 years of hell!

by sue3402, Nov 07, 2009 06:17PM
Hi , my name is susan sheehan, I have had on going health problems for 20 years. First the facts: I am diabetic, I have hep c, I have anemia, I was also told I have fibromyalgia. Which I'm starting to think may be something else.  I was told at one point that my red blood cell's were elevated, I asked why? I was told (I'm not sure) But nothing was ever done, to find out why! I have pain under my left rib, almost all the time. I've been complaining of this pain for 20 years. I think after reading thing's on the computer, that It's either my pancreas, or my spleene. But I have been told by people who have had there galbladder taken out, that it's my galbladder. I also have digestive problems. So I'm really not sure what's going on. I have a lot of problems swollowing as well. I use to take iron and my anemia would go away. Know no matter how much I take, it never get's better. So I do think that there may be a connection. And I read that the spleene works hard to rid the body of red blood cell's.Know I don't know if my red blood cell's is still elevated, but it sounds like there might be a connection. If you can help in any way, I would appreciate it. Thank you,
                  Susan Sheehan

To: sue3402,
Hi
Welcome to the forum!
Since you have stomach problems and you can never get the iron level corrected completely, it would be good if you could test stool for occult or hidden blood. The various causes of bleeding from the gut are bleeding peptic or duodenal ulcer, IBS, ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease. If you are suffering from any of these you will have constant anemia, digestive problems, a duodenal ulcer can cause pain under your right rib, and the anemia will cause generalized aches and pains. A GI doctor or gastroenterologist or the doctor who looks after our gut is the best person who can help you with this.
It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Maybe you can seek another opinion from another doctor than the one you are currently seeing. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
