My 27 month old is only 22 pounds to start. She has recurrent fevers at least once a month that are very high usually 103 or even higher. If I give her motrin or tylenol it comes down and she feels better, and this goes on for about 2 days typically, sometimes she has vomiting and sometimes she doesn't. She has been tested for strep, flu nasal swab, her thyroid came back normal, she is not congested, no ear infection, urine clear, bowel movements regular daily but very hard/constipation even though she gets plenty of fluids. She eats very very little with no appetite to speak of most of the time. She only wants bottle most of the time and I give into that for fear that if I don't she'll get NO calories at all. She has chronic constipation with anal fissure and it breaks open and bleeds with most any bowel movement, but doesn't act like it hurts her (she doesn't cry with BM's). Her heart rate stays very high, the lowest is about 150's. Cold hands and cold feet. Sometimes her legs shake. She would rather take a nap than play. She can say her ABC's and full sentences. She doesn't have any abnormalites, she is just tiny. What test should I demand them do? I feel like I am missing something??? Any clues to what this could be please reply
I couldn't begin to tell you what might be wrong, but you obviously need to see a specialist. Pediatric gastroenterologists are scarce as hen's teeth, but it sounds like you need to find one.
As a simpler idea, have you taken her to an allergist? She may simply be having problems from a food allergy. Maybe try to cut back on dairy products a bit and see how she does. Hopefully someone else who has children and experienced a similar problem will have some better ideas for you.
This is weird, but is her poo really bad odor? How is her growth. Has she grown in the last year? Weight, height? Have they checked for cystic fibrosis? Her iron levels? Are you giving lots of fiber and limiting her to less than 12 oz of milk product including cheese a day. It can cause constipation. Suger levels? Sometimes kids will get misterious fevers and I know at one point my niece would be walking around and vomit out of no where. She may just be normal and this is what she does. Goodluck and God bless
