Abnormal growth on CT scan

I went in to the Doc. to pick up some orders for my gall bladder removal surgery. Due to pain in a completly different area, he had me go in for a CT scan of lower abdomin (abdomen) / pelvic. STAT
What my primary care  doc has said is "scar tissue" because of the pain I feel in lower abdomin (abdomen) area showed something different. I had a CT scan over a year ago in same area due to pain. Nothing showed like now because of the dyes. They are saying I have a growth that is on top of my muscle in my lower abdomin (abdomen) area. But they do not know what it is. It is something that has obviously grown in a year and is very, very painful. I was told to go through with the surgery as planned. Then to immediatly take care of the "something" that is growing inside me. If anyone has any ideas on what it could be please let me know. I have been thinking now for over a year this growing "something" which is located on my lower abdomin (abdomen) area  right above pelvic bone is scar tissue and now the Doc said that where it is located it cant be. He said it is not in my abdomin (abdomen) but on my muscle. Also it is very sensitive to the touch and I mean very painful. I cant walk sometimes due to the pain.  SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP!!!! This really scares me and the pain never gets better.     The reason I thought scartissue was because I had a CSection 8 years ago.....

You can develop scar tissue/adhesions that will totally mess your insides up.  Eventhough they are telling you it's not exactly where you are feeling your pain, they still can be there.  Also scar tissue can press on your organs which in turn can rest on a nerve and cause additional pain.  My CT scan showed a couple of spots here and there, but when they opened me up, I was like cob webs with adhesions per my gyn/surgeon.  Everything was glued together and therefore causing all of my problems. (My scar tissue was from abd hyst) I am much better now.  If you are as miserable as I was, let them remove it so you can back to normal.

I was told that the mass they are seeing is growing under the skin and on the muscle!! Can this be scartissue??  I am thinking that if I was a smaller person around the waist this growth would actually be very noticable. Now you can actually press into my lower abdomin (abdomen) and feel a hard "something". I was hoping that the Surgeon that is doing my gallbladder removal could take care of it but he said he had never dont the type of incision I would need?  I thank you for your info especially since it helped I am willing to try anything because this pain is unbearable almost all of the time now!

I would opt for a general surgeon and take all of your films with you as well as reports.  A general surgeon can pretty much handle just about anything and nothing really shocks them as they've seen it all.

As for scar tissue under the skin...absolutely.  I have an incision on my abdomen and one of my legs and there are hard masses beneath the skin that is scar tissue.  Apparently it can grow and spread around and some people are more prone to it than others.

I read your gallbladder posting below regarding your period during surgery.  It shouldn't be a problem since your incision will be up in the abdomen.  Just make sure the nurse/dr know when they are prepping your for sugery as you might have to remove all of your clothing and make the appropriate arrangements for pads.

It is possible to have endometriosis in the scar tissue from a c-section. It can be slow growing and take years to reach the point where it becomes painful. I had a c-section 7 yrs. ago and just underwent my second surgury to find the source of the pain. The first laproscopic (2 yrs ago) found lots of internal adhesions that were thought to be the source, but i still had sever pain in the area in and around the scar tissue. The 2nd surgury re-opened the scar and sure enough found endo!

well. i've had several problems myself. i am only 19 and this hasbeen going on for about three years now. It all began when I was just a junior in high school & i had pain from like below my sternum along my left side of my abdominal area. It was very painful and soon became very unbearable to where I had to go to the ER and be admitted. Doctors ran several scans; an ultrasound, cat scan, hida scan. everything appeared normal but my gall bladder. they say there was a thickening of the wall and fluid. So they diagnosed me with a gallbladder infection. They gave me anti biotics and i was fine after a few days. a couple months later I passed out to the same pain i experienced. Once again, all the tests and scans were perfomed. everything appeared normal. then again a few months later i pass out. back to the hospital and again a repeat of the scans and tests. normal. and all i was given was painkillers. i was then referred to a gastro enterologist. who did an endoscopy and saw an irritation of my stomach wall. he believed it was not what was causing all the problems but prescribed me and anti acid med to lower the reduction of acid in my stomach. it helped a little but my symptons soon began to be more noticable. i was becoming very nauseated and fatigued and my appetite changed. i ate less and less. almost eveery day i had sharp pains in the same area i had the first pains but it seemed to spread more all over the left side and down. I just recently had a checkup and explained everything to my gastro. Originally, i was setting up a colonoscopy but after i had left the office my doctor called back. he said that he was lookin over my previous scan and saw the same thickening and inflamation (inflammation) of my gallbladder. now he is telling me that my gall bladder may be the cause of all the pain so i will need surgery to remove it, but there could be a chance that i still experience the pain after ward

has anyone had the same pain? and what results were found?
