Aching arms and legs

My thighs and upper arms ache constantly. It feels somewhat like I recall "growing pains" feeling like. Tylonol or Ibuprofen will relieve the discomfort for a few hours but it always comes back. I am a 40 yar old woman with a semi-sedentary lifestyle although I did experience the aching off and on when I was still working at a physically demanding job. I get migraines a couple times a month as well. I don't have any problem with stress or anxiety. Any ideas what might be causing this?

Thank you all very much for responding. I'm supposed to get anual blood work done next month so I'll ask my doctor to add those tests. I don't think it is disk problems though as it doesn't feel like it did when I had a herniated disk (I had surgery to correct it). It feels just like growing pains so I think inflammation is more likely. I will start taking some vitamins in the mean time to see if it helps.

You may want to have your back examined.  Often times pinched nerves from back problems (herniated or bulging disks) will cause a great deal of pain - the disks in your neck can affect your arms and those in lower back can affect your thighs.  I've seen a chiropractor for many years, but began my journey with a neurologist with many tests to determine the damage in my neck and back from a car accident in high school.

I also have RA and sjogrens syndrome (autoimmune illnesses) and agree with SassyLassie, a complete blood workup to test inflammation markers is important.  Good luck!

Hello,

I would try to add a good multi-mineral supplement to your diet, you may be needing extra calcium, magnesium and potassium. Also, try soaking in a nice warm bath with Epsom salt, Epsom salt is Magnesium and is very relaxing for the muscles.

If you see a doctor, ask for blood work that checks "inflammation markers" such as a CRP, RA Factor, and CBC, these will tell if there is any hidden inflammations in your body.
